Since its inception, there has been a rapid increase in the number of entrepreneurs in Africa. The seed grant which is made available to the selected candidates after a rigorous selection process by the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has contributed to the upsurge in the number of entrepreneurs. The foundation has empowered many aspiring entrepreneurs in line with the vision and mission of TEF as driver of social change.
Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu is the incumbent Chief Executive Officer of Tony Elumelu Foundation. Steering a big foundation like TEF is no doubt one that comes with enormous tasks. She has proven to be an advocate and social change strategist as seen in her works in the foundation under the leadership of the chairman Mr. Tony Elumelu, CON.
Africans are very industrious and replete with many talents and innovative ideas but many of these ideas lie fallow or get suffocated due to lack of startup capital. The team led by Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu has brought tremendous success to the foundation as many young people have been empowered to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams for development of Africa which blends with Tony Elumelu philosophy on Africapitalism.
Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu has a deep-seated experience which prepared her to serve the foundation professionally since assumption of duty as Chief Executive Officer of the largest Foundation in Africa two years ago. She was the Director of Partnerships and Evaluation between 2017- 2019. She is adept in management and has given the foundation her best.
Prior to joining the foundation, she had worked in some organizations that are profit-oriented which equipped with her with managerial and human relations skills necessary to run any successful venture. She was the Managing Director and Co- founder of Sleek Nigeria.
Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu, a legal luminary studied law at the University of Wales and also attended Nigeria Law School where she passed her professional exam in flying colours leading to her call to the largest Bar in Africa. Her profession gave her the vantage point to clinch many roles which helped to broaden her horizon. She was a secretary at Romi Oil and Gas Ltd. and had handled key positions like Human Resources and Corporate Governance. She also worked as a legal practitioner in Chief Rotimi William’s Chamber, a reputable law firm.
Her intricate network has been attributed to her many years of hard work and dedication to her career. The Magnanimity of TEFconnect and the relentless efforts of some purpose-driven people like Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu have continued to lift many Africans from the shackles of unemployment and poverty till today.
